Albert Pinkham Ryder was loosely associated as an American Tonalist.  He did his work in the post Civil war Era into the turn of the century.  His palette was certainly minimal which is a tonalist quality. And he expressed a great sense of mood and energy which was a atonalist quality as well.  But much like Whistler or Rembrandt nightscapes ; he creates a beautiful world all his own….. this work is something of an homage to his essence as an artist,
