Description of Staccato (The Open Door That No Man Shutteth)
This is the last of the series and in many ways opens the door of exploration and promise even further.
Painting measures 36″ by 42″. It is painted on fine Belgian linen stretched in my studio on aged and sealed wood stretchers assembled in the studio. The linen goes on raw and is then sized and gessoed with an average of 30 coats of gesso. This may seem excessive, but it creates an old-world quality substrate that is extremely stable and durable even against humidity changes.
